Description

Proper professional etiquette will make or break your chances with potential employers. This should seem obvious, yet some students discount the importance of etiquette and end up being memorable for the wrong reasons. You want employers to remember you for what you did right!

Learn the basics of professional etiquette at the 2017 Professional Etiquette Workshop, led by UCLA Luskin urban planning alumnus Jonathan Pacheco Bell, MA ’05. Jonathan will share his experience recruiting graduate students into the workforce. Using real life examples, Jonathan will explain the “Do’s and Don’ts” of professional etiquette —with emphasis on the Dont’s! Topics will include Communication, Networking, First Impressions, and Nonverbal Cues, among many others. Workshop attendees will gain a critical advantage for landing internships, scholarships, fellowships, and jobs.

Jonathan Pacheco Bell, MA ’05, is a land use regulation planner at the Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning. For over ten years, Jonathan has served as one of the department’s community-based zoning enforcement officers in unincorporated South Central Los Angeles, where he is responsible for implementing the zoning code. Jonathan is the 2013 recipient of the UCLA Urban Planning Alumnus of the Year Award.
